We are a group of mothers and midwives (and an ob!) who offer social support and information to women with babies presenting by the breech or who have given birth to breech babies (vaginally or surgically).

Some of us have had the opportunity of a vaginal breech birth under safe conditions.  Others have had no option but caesarean section.  Others still are midwives with an interest in breech presentation.

The current practise of caesarean section for all breech presentations is not supported by the medical evidence.  Many breech babies can be born safely vaginally.  There is an urgent need for our obstetric and midwifery workforces to re-skill in vaginal breech birth.

  • We support the right of women to make fully informed decisions about maternity care
  • We support the rights of women to autonomy and bodily integrity
  • We support women in the choices they make in the best interests of themselves and their families

We are the Australian Chapter of the Coalition for Breech Birth.
